Message from the president
Greetings from PSD-Nepal
I am glad and honored for the responsibility to lead this institution that rests on the block of my colleagues who had their first image in a dream and made it possible this time. I am thankful for the support of countless well-wishers including but not limited to advisory board members, staff members, volunteers who made PSD-Nepal a venue for scientific publications among global researchers through the International Journal of Environment (IJE). PSD-Nepal has always been at the forefront in organizing capacity-building training, workshops, seminars and prepared for leading projects related to food safety, particularly on pesticide residues in Nepal and abroad.
PSD-Nepal is one of the few innovative institutions established in Nepal primarily focused on working in the areas of agriculture, health, and the environment. In the last few years, the use of chemical pesticides in vegetables has increased massively in Nepal. Toxic pesticides that are banned in developed nations find their way gradually to the developing world including Nepal and are used mostly in vegetables and fruits. Overuse and misuse of these pesticides have exposed citizens of Nepal as well as elevated the number of patients suffering from long-term diseases such as cancer.
PSD-Nepal collaborates with intellectuals, experts, researchers, policymakers, youths who would like to show their enthusiasm in the field of agriculture, environment, and health. We wish for their continued support and encouragement in the days to come. Furthermore, I believe I will reach all corners of the globe and facilitate us to achieve our vision and mission.
As I express appreciation to all those who believed in me, I declare that I will fully work with effort to take this organization ahead by helping every struggle that would help to conserve nature. We have different minds but let’s work together so that we can stand on our own and make a new Nepal.
Dr. Govinda Bhandari
President, Progressive Sustainable Developers Nepal (PSD-Nepal)
